A humanitarian initiative to distribute drinking water to camps for displaced people in Gaza

With generous support from GPI, the association implemented a humanitarian initiative to distribute drinking water to displaced persons camps in Gaza City, as part of its multi-sectoral emergency response program. This initiative aimed to alleviate the suffering of displaced families facing a severe shortage of clean water and deteriorating health conditions.

Urgent Response to the Water Crisis in the Gaza Strip

This initiative comes amidst the near-total collapse of water and sanitation infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, a consequence of the ongoing aggression and the systematic destruction of water sources. This has led to extreme difficulty for families in accessing safe drinking water and water for daily use, and has increased the risk of outbreaks of waterborne diseases and epidemics.

Targeting the Most Vulnerable Groups: Children, Pregnant Women, and the Elderly

The initiative targeted the most vulnerable families in displacement camps, particularly children, pregnant women, and the elderly, who face compounded health challenges due to high temperatures and the collapse of sanitation and public health services. Safe drinking water is crucial for preventing infectious diseases, especially in overcrowded and unsanitary environments. A Continuing Humanitarian Commitment Despite the Challenges

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Gaza Agriculture and Environment Association and its international partners, most notably the GPI Foundation, to continue providing emergency humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip, and to dedicate efforts to providing basic life-saving needs, especially in light of the continued siege and the deteriorating living and health conditions.
